16th Annual Mayor’s Ramadan Unity Dinner at the Lansing Center
Over 300 people attended the dinner and raised over $25,000 for the Greater Lansing Food Bank, in part thanks to a last-minute donation from the Islamic Center of East Lansing. Leaders of the Greater Lansing Islamic community addressed the war in Gaza and the meaning behind food scarcity and Ramadan – which is the Islamic holy period when believers will fast from dawn through sunset to promote self-discipline and empathy for those who are less fortunate.
